If you're experiencing issues installing or updating Cradle products on macOS, this could be due to a Cradle Hub issue we're aware of that was introduced with more recent versions of macOS.
Take a look below for tips on how to get back up and running.
Step 1 - Login Items
Since the release of macOS 12 (Monterey) and subsequent versions of macOS, it's now possible to have more control over what are called "login items", and specifically applications or services that can run in the background.
It's possible for Cradle Hub to get into a state that prevents you from being able to install your Cradle products. If you see an Install failed error message when you attempt to install a Cradle product, try the following:
- Opening System Settings
Heading to the
Generaltab and select
Look for the
Cradle Apps, LLCitem in the
Allow in the Backgroundsection, as seen in the screenshot below:
If the toggle is already enabled, please toggle this off and on again
If the toggle is not enabled, please enable it
- Restart your machine to ensure the changes take effect
- Try to install your products again. If that doesn't work, scroll down to Step 2.
Step 2 - CleanMyMac or similar
If Step 1 didn't work, check to see if you have any system utility software such as CleanMyMac installed. These sorts of applications can control what access macOS has to certain files, and it's possible that it has incorrectly flagged a Cradle file as a false positive, which can lead to installation issues.
You can check this in the CleanMyMac app by heading to the
Optimization tab, as seen below:
app.cradle.HubPrivilegedService file has been flagged and disabled, as seen in the screenshot above, re-enable it and attempt to install your products again. If that doesn't work, or you don't have CleanMyMac or any similar software installed, take a look at Step 3 below.
Step 3 - Delete & re-install Cradle Hub
If neither of the above options work or apply, you can try deleting and re-installing Cradle Hub:
- Quit Cradle Hub
- Open your Applications folder
- Delete the Cradle Hub application
- Download the installer for the latest version of Cradle Hub here - https://cradle.app/cradle-hub
- Run the installer
- Try to install your products again
If none of the steps above seem to work, get in touch with our support team who will be able to assist you further. We'll be releasing an update to Cradle Hub in the near future to address these issues.
